2022 Fiftyrow Napa Valley Galleron Cuvee Proprietary Red
THE VINEYARDS
2022 was a year that had early rains and then several heat spikes, including 6 days of 115 degrees in early September. The Merlot and Syrah are from a certified organic vineyard and were able to hang late into fall as mild temperatures finished ripening that gave the fruit incredible concentration color. Our Petite Sirah was picked midway through the early September spike and is sustainably farmed.
TASTING NOTES
Every few years I talk my friend and mentor, Gary Galleron, into collaborating on a wine that deserves the Galleron name. Although Gary is now retired, I like to pay tribute to him by getting him involved in creating his namesake wine, Galleron Cuvee. We taste through dozens of different varietals, looking for something special. We both agree it must be a unique blend that overdelivers at an affordable price point. We finally settled on a blend of Merlot, Syrah, and Petite Sirah. It is a massive wine with a deep purple color that has tons of black fruits, graphite, tobacco and exotic spices, an elegant mid pallet and ends with a long finish with firm tannins.
